Book Review from His Hermeneuticalness...

...here. He is in fact very modest when he says he did not contribute much, he answered a relentless bombardment of questions from me on different subjects, such as the exact words of absolution in the Old Rite, the precise moment in the Mass when the names of the dead might be mentioned and the moral complexities surrounding acts of war. I was overwhelmed when I was researching the book by the incredible generosity of so many people who willingly shared their time and hard-earned knowledge to help me shape the story.

On one glorious occasion, a friend who is an expert in piracy and life at sea came round for dinner with his girlfriend and acted out (slow motion) a combat scene with me in the corner of my kitchen whilst my husband made coffee, so that I could make absolutely sure I got the different moves right.

Good job you didn't need to ask me the exact words of absolution in the new rite: I would have had to look them up ;-)

Great book! Everyone is enthusing about it.
